Laura Hogan consults with nonprofit and philanthropy organizations to improve the health and well-being of communities. Her skills and experience include strategy, planning and oversight of philanthropy initiatives, evaluation planning and policy development. Previous to consulting, Ms. Hogan held the position of Vice President of Program for The California Endowment. Her tenure with The Endowment (1999-2009) included oversight of all foundation grant making. She led the development of several initiatives, such as the
Children’s Coverage Initiative that ultimately resulted in comprehensive coverage for all children in California, including undocumented. Children’s health is a lifelong passion. Ms. Hogan serves as a senior strategist for Futures Without Violence developing program initiatives to prevent and heal violence with a focus on childhood adversity. From 2009 – 2014, she served as Co-Director of Start Strong: Building Healthy Teen Relationships, a national teen dating violence prevention initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Ms. Hogan works on initiatives and projects funded by Blue Shield of California Foundation, The California Endowment, Sierra Health Foundation, and California Health Care Foundation She currently serves on the program management team for the California Accountable Community for Health Initiative, including sites focused on preventing trauma for children, children’s asthma, and comprehensive child health.
Prior to 1999, Ms. Hogan worked as Executive Director for CommuniCare Health Centers a community health center providing 60,000 health/dental/vision/behavioral health visits and 35,000 health education and outreach visits through six locations. The staff included physicians, dentists, midwives, nurse practitioners, mental health therapists and 200 volunteers.
