On May 4, the U.S. House of Representatives narrowly passed the American Health Care Act (AHCA). The AHCA threatens to unravel years of progress in expanding health care coverage, improving quality of care, and investing in public health and prevention. If signed into law, the bill would strip 23 million Americans of their health care coverage over the next 10 years, zero out the Prevention and Public Health Fund, remove protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and pare down essential health benefits.

Taken together with the president’s fiscal year 2018 budget proposal, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention face total cuts of $1.2 billion (a 17% cut). The ACHA and the president’s proposed budget endanger the health and wellbeing Americans.

Please join the American Public Health Association, Prevention Institute, Public Health Institute, and Trust for America's Health for a Dialogue4Health Web Forum highlighting the status of the AHCA and the president’s budget, exploring issues likely to arise in the Senate, and outlining next steps. Panelists will discuss strategies and actions to ensure robust communications are provided to key audiences including policymakers. This Web Forum will include a Q&A session with the panelists.

Closed captioning will be available to all attendees.
