Elena Ong, PHN, MS, is the President & CEO of the Asian & Pacific Islander Caucus for Public Health, a Governing Council Member at the American Public Health Association, the Vice President of the Southern California Public Health Association, and a member of the California Health Interview Survey's Multicultural Technical Advisory Committee. She is also the Director of Public Policy and Public Affairs at Ong & Associates, where she is currently working on a project related to the Minimum Wage, and a project on "The Future of Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders in 2040." As Chair of the APHA Caucus Collaborative, and National Co-Chair of the Social Determinants of Health Working Group, she has organized more than a dozen APHA invited sessions on "Becoming the Healthiest Nation" and "Health Equity."
Elena studied Women's Studies and Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley prior to receiving her BSN/PHN in Ambulatory Care from the UCSF School of Nursing, and studied at the Kennedy School of Government while earning her Masters in Health Policy & Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. She is also a CORO Executive Fellow.
