Dr. Eric Baumgartner is a career public health physician engaged in a variety of community and national activities focused on issues of population health and access to care. In addition to his role at the Louisiana Public Health Institute, he serves as a Commissioner of the Louisiana Health Care Commission. Dr. Baumgartner has served in a variety of posts in state public health agencies in Mississippi, Hawaii, Texas and Louisiana. Dr. Baumgartner received his Medical Degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine and his Masters of Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He completed a residency in general pediatrics at the University of Arkansas and completed a second residency in general preventive medicine at Tulane.
