Milano Harden, Ed. M, is President and Founder of The Genius Group, Inc. He has extensive training in philanthropic strategy; nonprofit management; leadership effectiveness; organizational change and development; equity, diversity and inclusion. The Genius Group, Inc. (TGG) provides organization strategy and grant-making design support to private foundations; technical assistance and capacity building support to the grantees of foundation-funded initiatives; and solutions in managing growth & change, strategic planning, financial management, and diversity & inclusion to nonprofits and social enterprises. TGG works with leaders of all kinds with an emphasis on philanthropic/nonprofit leaders working on social change and community improvement themes.
Mr. Harden has deep interests in the leadership effectiveness of next generation leaders, the organizational strengthening of movement building organizations, and ethnic philanthropy. Prior to TGG, Mr. Harden served in a number of progressive leadership roles including Program Director at The Healthcare Georgia Foundation in Atlanta, GA; Manager of Education Initiatives at Harvard University’s Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations & Philanthropy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government; Development Manager of Executive Education at the American Hospital Association’s Health Research & Educational Trust; Program Evaluator for the Department of Community Services at Northwestern Memorial Hospital; and District Health Coordinator for the Illinois Primary Health Care Association.
While working at the American Hospital Association, Mr. Harden co-founded Imago Dei, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to improving young men and boys of color social condition, educational attainment, and psychological wellbeing. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University and a graduate degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Mr. Harden has been honored with several fellowships and serves on several boards and committees.
