Community Initiatives (CI) is a network of professionals and partner organizations dedicated to building healthy and whole communities. CI offers a wide range of coaching, consulting, training and facilitation services to help community-based organizations, coalitions and national networks produce collaborative strategies and better outcomes for communities.

Representatives from Community Initiatives provide a demonstration of their Community Commons website, which features a plethora of resources including, 7000 layers of GIS mapping data, social media capabilities, opportunities for dialogue and much more.

This purpose of this Web Forum is to:

  • Introduce PLACE MATTERS Teams to Community Commons and provide an overview of the site’s basic uses.
  • Provide context for PLACE MATTERS Teams to begin building their presence on the Commons, specifically with GIS mapping tools.
