Now that the election is over, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is expected to near full implementation in 2014. The California hospital safety net will need to make extensive changes to prepare for expanded service demands. Accurate data and clear metrics will be necessary for measuring progress and the impact that the ACA will have on access to care, quality, and costs.
The California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) collects financial, utilization, and patient data from all licensed hospitals in the State. These data can be used as a baseline for measuring the impact of the ACA on access to services for the newly insured and those who will remain uninsured. This Web Forum will demonstrate how OSHPD data can be used by those planning and implementing health care reform.
Please join us for this interactive Web Forum that will provide information and insights on using OSHPD data to assess changes in the health care delivery system at this critical time.
The Web Forum will:
- Provide a 2010 profile and summarize five-year trend data for all hospitals in the State and provide data highlighting safety net hospitals;
- Describe strategies safety net hospitals are using to prepare for the full implementation of the ACA; and
- Discuss the potential impact of these changes on access and utilization patterns.
