The Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals are a set of knowledge and skills needed for the broad practice of public health, as defined by the 10 Essential Public Health Services. This presentation will introduce the Core Competencies and describe how they can be applied and evaluated in public health organizations. The discussion will explore how the Core Competencies can guide public health training and professional development efforts, how to align job responsibilities with the Core Competencies, and methods for evaluating training programs and training effectiveness.
