Amanda Moreland is a Public Health Analyst and contractor with the Public Health Law Program (PHLP) within the Center for State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Support (CSTLTS) at CDC. In her role at PHLP, Amanda provides technical assistance to state, tribal, local, and territorial partners and conducts legal epidemiology research and analysis on a variety of topics. Amanda’s primary areas of research include disease reporting and surveillance, medicolegal death investigation, health equity and social determinants of health, environmental public health, and emergency preparedness.
Prior to joining CDC, Amanda worked with non-governmental organizations focusing on global public health, health system strengthening, and health equity. Amanda is an alumna of the University of Missouri, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences with minors in Spanish and psychology, as well as a master’s degree in public health (MPH) with an emphasis in health promotion and policy. Amanda also attended DePaul University College of Law, where she earned a juris doctor (JD) degree and certificate in international and comparative law. Amanda is a member of the Illinois State Bar and remains actively engaged in service and the promotion of social justice and human rights through her various roles outside of CDC.
