Herminia Ledesma, Program Manager for Vista Community Clinic (VCC) oversees VCC’s Migrant Health and Community Engagement Programs. She has been with VCC for over six years. During her time with VCC, she has focused on various efforts supporting access to health care for migrant workers and their families. Additionally, one of her career focuses has been leading Community Health Worker (CHW) programs encompassing the training, facilitation of community organizing, advocacy, and peer education efforts.
For most of her time with VCC, she has supported, and now oversees Poder Popular, VCC’s legacy promotor group. Poder Popular has grown to a group of over forty Lideres (Leaders) in the City of Vista. The efforts of Poder Popular Lideres range from health education and promotion, to now focusing on policy and advocacy on environmental changes for healthier communities.
Currently she serves in the following leadership positions: board member for Community Health Improvement Partners, Co-Chair of the San Diego County Promotores Coalition, Vice- Chair of the Farm Worker CARE Coalition, member of the San Diego Food Vision 2030’s steering committee, and is an active member of coalitions such as the San Diego Bi-National Health Week Coalition, and the Resident Leadership Academy Council.
