Dr. Mary Maddux-Gonzalez is a physician and public health professional with over thirty years of experience in safety-net primary care and public health. She was the Sonoma County Public Health Officer and Division Director from 1999-2011. She served as the Chief Medical Officer of the Redwood Community Health Coalition of community health centers in Sonoma, Napa, Yolo, and Marin counties from 2011-2016. Dr. Maddux-Gonzalez was a faculty member of the Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency and Associate Clinical Professor of the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine Family Medicine Department from 1993-2000. She has been a Board Member and Chair of the Latino Coalition for a Healthy California, Board Member of the Integrated Healthcare Association and President and Board Member of the Sonoma County Medical Association.

In addition to her current role as NLAPH Coach, she is a coach with the California Overdose Prevention Network Accelerator Program and a Public Health Preparedness consultant. Dr. Maddux-Gonzalez is a Board-certified Family Physician. She received her medical degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Diploma in Human Nutrition from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
