In June and July, this Masterclass Series will provide a new learning opportunity for individuals throughout the country who are working in their communities to positively affect the conditions that create health. We will use real world case examples and facilitated dialogue to help participants learn effective ways to “collectively assure the conditions in which (all) people can be healthy," stimulate thinking in the field around expansion of partnership, consider how both data and the arts can be tapped into to drive change, and increase awareness of the power and scope that individual and team leadership skills can play. Attendees will be exposed to some of the best practices in public health leadership used by teams who have been part of the LAPH program over the last 13 years. Panelists will provide practical examples of how they have applied current leadership skills and concepts not only through their Academy projects, but more broadly in their work across the years, sharing insights gained as well as opportunities, tools, and ideas applicable to all.
The second webinar in the series focuses on tapping into the power of the arts and culture in advancing health for all. Through sharing specific examples, resources, and ideas, the session will demonstrate the strength and potential of the arts to shape health policy; advance narrative change; strengthen messaging; and enhance the functioning, engagement and effectiveness of collaborations and teams. Panelists will discuss ways that arts and community health efforts work synergistically to build momentum for societal change; how arts and culture can effectively message and influence society’s understanding of the environments in which people become healthy and well; how intentional sharing of our cultural backgrounds and cross-cultural exploration can be used to inspire or sustain collaborations and engagement in community-based initiatives; and more.
The session will be moderated by LAPH Coach Cathy Slemp and feature LAPH alumni team representatives Miguel Angel Vazquez, Riverside University Health System (Eastern Coachella Valley Team, CALAPH Cohort 1 – 2012), Josh Miller, IDEAS xLab (Louisville Lead Free Community, NLAPH Cohort10 - 2021), and Laura Dewberry, Centene Corporation (Michigan Health Equity Team, NLAPH Cohort 10 & 11 – 2021 & 2022).
This Web Forum is sponsored by the National Overdose Prevention Network, a program of PHI Center for Health Leadership & Impact and produced by Dialogue4Health.
