Leadership Academy for the Public's Health Masterclass Series: Partnership Development and Community Engagement

In June and July, this Masterclass Series will provide a new learning opportunity for individuals throughout the country who are working in their communities to positively affect the conditions that create health. We will use case examples and facilitated dialogue to help participants learn effective ways to collectively assure the conditions in which all people can be healthy, stimulate thinking in the field around expansion of partnership, increase awareness of the power and scope of individual and team leadership, and provide practical examples of how teams who have been part of the Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health (LAPH) initiative have positively impacted public health in their states and communities. Attendees will be exposed to some of the best practices in public health leadership, developed by alumni teams who have participated in the LAPH program over the last 13 years. LAPH alumni panelists will provide practical examples of how they have applied current leadership skills and concepts not only through their Academy projects, but more broadly in their work across the years, sharing insights gained as well as opportunities, tools, and ideas applicable to all.

The first session in this series focuses on community engagement and partnership development as essential tools in advancing health equity and optimal health for all. The session will demonstrate the power of creating a leadership team of individuals from varied backgrounds and organizations, engaging members of diverse communities and developing effective partnerships, collecting and using quantitative and qualitative data for program development and evaluation, and using that information in creative and innovative ways to impact program and policy development.

The session will be moderated by LAPH Coach Ed Ehlinger and feature LAPH alumni team representatives Elaine Johannes (Kansas Community Health Work Partnership, NLAPH Cohort 10 – 2021) and Margarita Northrop (Thrive WI: Wisconsin's Alliance for Health Equity, NLAPH Cohort 2 – 2013).

This Web Forum is sponsored by the National Overdose Prevention Network, a program of PHI Center for Health Leadership & Impact and produced by Dialogue4Health.
