Dr. Angie Tagtow, Founder and Chief Strategist of Äkta Strategies, LLC, is an executive, strategic advisor, entrepreneur, and scholar with a proven track record in enhancing organizational and professional capacity through adaptive leadership, multi-sector relationships, and system change approaches. Guided by a values-driven and results-based approach, Angie utilizes strategic management, science, education, practice, communication, and policy tools to drive innovation and foster transformation. With experience at local, state, federal, and international levels in food and nutrition policy, public health, and food and water systems, Angie brings a wealth of expertise to her roles.

She served as the Executive Director for the US Department of Agriculture’s Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion which oversaw the development of the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. As a public health practitioner and registered dietitian, Angie served as a 2020 National Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health Fellow; Senior Fellow, and Endowed Chair at the Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture, University of Minnesota College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences; and a Food and Society Policy Fellow with the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy.

 Her dedication to public health, nutrition security, and food systems is further exemplified by her work with the Iowa Department of Public Health. Inspired by this experience, Angie launched the Journal of Hunger & Environmental Nutrition, where she served as the managing editor for 11 years. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reports, and has been a presenter at international and national conferences and events.
