Brandi Hamilton, MS
Program Manager and Environmental Specialist
Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services
Brandi Hamilton is a geologist who has been engaged in the public health sector since 2020. Brandi earned her B.S. in Geology from Wittenberg University and her M.S. in Geological Sciences from Ohio University. She became involved in the environmental health field when she began working for the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS), and currently serves as a member of the DHSS Environmental Health and Risk Assessment Program and as the Manager for the Missouri Radon Program. She has been a licensed Lead Risk Assessor for the State since 2022. Much of her work centers around providing technical assistance for environmental contaminants in Missouri. She has written documents on lead, radon, and other naturally occurring radionuclides and responds to issues involving other chemicals and concerns associated with Superfund sites.
Brandi has also managed DHSS cooperative agreements for Missouri communities, a role that requires creating work plans, developing budgets, and navigating regulations while also tailoring the agreements to address the communities' needs and concerns. She has been involved in several environmental epidemiology projects and has experience both leading environmental sampling operations and conducting public outreach at the state and local levels. She has drafted quality control measures for environmental sampling and data management plans, and encourages the use of verified information to make data-driven decisions.
Brandi is an alumna of the National Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health (NLAPH). She completed the program in Cohort 11 with the Madison County Environmental Roundtable (MCER), a team focused on providing health services to lead-impacted communities linked to historic mining sites. She enjoys sharing what she has learned with others and acts as a mentor for both local university and State (MOMENTS) programs.
