Megan Black

Megan Black is a public health professional, strategic communicator, and health equity leader dedicated to advancing community well-being across California. Her experience spans maternal and child health, behavioral health, government communications, and health equity initiatives. She has built a career centered on improving outcomes for underserved and marginalized communities through collaboration, advocacy, and evidence-based public health practice.  

She serves as the Public Information Officer and Health Equity Officer for the Merced County Department of Public Health, leading community engagement efforts, health promotion, and building cross‑sector partnerships to strengthen community trust and improve access to care. 

Megan previously worked in the Black Infant Health Program, where she supported Black birthing persons in reducing maternal and infant health disparities. She also served as a mental health rehabilitation specialist foryouth survivors of commercial sexual exploitation, providing trauma-informed support and helping youth navigate pathways toward healing and stability.  

She is also a Public Voices Fellow on Public Health with The OpEd Project and Blue Shield of California Foundation.
