Janet Johnson, NMDOH Tribal Liaison, brings two decades of expertise in Tribal program administration, predominantly in the realm of public health. Her unique background spans both Santa Clara Pueblo and Sacramento, California, providing her with a rich blend of traditional and urban experiences. Growing up grounded in her Pueblo traditions, contrasted with being the sole Native student in her suburban public schools, shaped her resilience and perspective. Her journey took her to the University of California, Berkeley, where she continued to bridge these diverse worlds, integrating traditional knowledge within a contemporary educational institution. Janet is a seasoned Tribal Liaison who was awarded the NIHB Health Warrior Award in 2025.
