John M. Dwyer, MPH
Coordinator, Champaign County Emergency Management Agency
John Dwyer is the Coordinator of the Champaign County Emergency Management Agency under the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office. He has been at the agency for 14 years having been the coordinator since 2013 and the Deputy Director for two years. He was the Emergency Response Planner for the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD), Champaign, IL from July 2004-May 2011. He has a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Illinois-Springfield and bachelor’s degree in biology with a chemistry minor from the Virginia Military Institute. He is also a traditional guardsman with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the IL Air National Guard assigned to the Joint Force Headquarters-Air staff in Springfield. He has over twenty-eight years of military service having served on active duty, Air Force reserves and the Air National Guard.
